Ottawa County Privacy Notice

This Privacy Notice describes the information received when people use Ottawa County Released Inmates, how that information supports the service, and when outside providers may process it. Using the site after reviewing this notice means accepting these practices.

Information You Submit

Search Terms

A name, location, or other term entered in a search box is sent to the third-party company that operates that tool. Ottawa County Released Inmates does not keep or log those search terms on its own systems. The provider’s own privacy terms apply to its handling of the query.

Messages Sent to Us

If you send an email or submit a contact message, we keep the information needed to read and answer it. Messages are not shared outside the organization unless disclosure is required by law or a valid legal process.

Information Collected Automatically

Standard web technology can create technical records when a page loads. Those records help operate the Ottawa County resource, measure performance, and identify faults. They may include:

  • The internet protocol address used for the visit
  • Browser name and browser version
  • Device category and operating system
  • Pages opened and time spent on them
  • The referring website, when one is supplied
  • Date and time stamps for requests

Cookie Use

Cookies may be used to understand how visitors move through the site and to support service features. Most browsers let users limit or block cookies. Doing so may cause some parts of the service or partner tools to work differently.

How Information Is Used

Information collected through normal site use supports limited operational and business purposes. It may be used to:

  • Keep pages available, stable, and responsive
  • Send a search request to the selected partner service
  • Learn which Ottawa County topics visitors find useful
  • Detect faults, misuse, and other technical problems
  • Display advertising that may reflect general interests

Websites Beyond Our Control

Links may lead to Ottawa County Sheriff pages, Ohio Department of Rehabilitation and Correction resources, parole or probation information, federal and ICE locators, court systems, and outside search tools. Once a visitor follows a link, the destination’s privacy notice and data practices govern. Official public-record access, including records requested under Ohio Revised Code 149.43, is handled by the government office rather than by this site.

Advertising companies may use their own systems to observe activity across multiple sites and select ads. Ottawa County Released Inmates does not control those companies’ tracking methods, cookie choices, or privacy policies.

When Information May Be Shared

We do not sell personal information. Information may still be processed or disclosed in these limited settings:

  • Search partners that receive and process submitted queries
  • Analytics providers that measure traffic and performance
  • Advertising networks that deliver or evaluate ads
  • Law enforcement or government agencies acting under a valid legal order

Reasonable Security Measures

Standard safeguards are used to protect information within our control. No internet-connected service, transmission method, or storage system is fully secure. We therefore cannot promise that information will never be accessed, lost, altered, or disclosed without authorization.

Use by Minors

This resource is intended for adults and does not knowingly collect personal information from anyone under 18. A parent or guardian who believes a minor sent personal information may use the Get in Touch page to request review and deletion.

Your Privacy Choices

Subject to applicable law and the type of information involved, a user may ask us to:

  • Provide a copy of personal information we hold
  • Correct inaccurate personal information
  • Delete personal information where appropriate
  • Stop certain forms of processing where a right to opt out applies

Changes to This Notice

This Privacy Notice may be revised as services, providers, or legal duties change. An updated version becomes effective when posted here with a new effective date. Visitors should review the current notice when returning to the site.
